If you receive this status code, it means that the server is a gateway or a proxy server which is not receiving a response from the backend servers within the allotted time.

Here are some things to check when encountering this error:

Check to see if the connection between the proxy server and the backend servers is poor.
Check if the backend server handling the request is slow due to poor performance.
Check if the gateway or proxy server’s timeout is too short.
